After spending the last two years teaching at an international school in Ecuador, I am very excited to be returning to the Fireside community!  We had an amazing experience in Ecuador! My husband, Michael, and our two kids, Jadyn and Levy, all got to go to school together everyday, and I even got to be Jadyn’s teacher in fourth grade last year.  We had so many exciting adventures all over Ecuador and Peru, and I look forward to sharing stories about our lives abroad!

I started teaching in BVSD in 2003 at Foothill in third grade.  Then in 2007 we moved to Honduras for our first experience teaching abroad.  We loved living in Central America and getting to know the beauty and diversity of all the different countries!  Upon returning to Colorado in 2009, I began teaching ESL at Fireside. Two years later, I moved back into fourth grade, where I stayed until leaving for Ecuador in 2017.  This year I will be teaching kindergarten and am very excited about opening a whole new chapter in my teaching career. I am sure I will love the amazing discovery of kindergarteners, as they just begin their experience of elementary school.  I can’t wait to share the excitement of what each child learns every single day!

I am originally from Los Angeles, California, but grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and have been living in Boulder since going to school at CU in 1993, with the exception of two year adventures in Steamboat, Honduras, and Ecuador.  I studied kinesiology in my undergraduate work, then went on to receive my Masters in Education with a focus on multicultural education and teaching linguistically diverse learners, and also obtaining my endorsement to teach ESL.  I love to travel and visit far out places, getting to know the beauty of the world, it’s people and diverse cultures. I also love to play outside and enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and discovering great campsites! I feel so fortunate to have an amazing family unit that loves to do all these adventures together!
