I'm one of those rare Colorado natives you hear about but rarely ever see! I was born and raised in Louisville and never saw much of a reason to leave this wonderful place! I received my B.A. from University of Northern Colorado and my M.A. from the University of Colorado. I have been teaching since 2010 and am constantly learning right along with my students. I am a firm believer in educating the whole child and love when those unplanned, teachable moments present themselves. When I'm not teaching, you will find me jet-setting to new places, trying out a new recipe, seeking out live music, or playing outside in our Colorado backyard.
Originally from Nebraska, I took time to travel the world before ending up in Boulder, Colorado! I was in the advertising world in Portland, Oregon prior to going back to school. At that time, I moved to Colorado to earn my masters in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Denver.
Since then, I have taught third through fifth grade in Boulder Valley. In my current fourth grade classroom, I strive to foster enthusiasm for learning about the world with an increased sense of self and others. Students are supported in turning strengths and interests into stepping stones for fostering personal, social, and academic growth. I nurture a safe community where learning occurs through connections with others, hands-on experiences, creativity, and social-emotional well being. When not in the classroom, you will likely find me doing yoga, going on worldly adventures, reading, or spending time with my family and friends.
I am excited to be at Fireside Elementary as the new fourth grade teacher.
My most recent teaching position prior to Fireside was at Flatirons Elementary where I taught third and fourth grade. I spent my early years teaching in Hawaii and California while my husband was stationed there in the Navy.
I have been married 27 years and have four children. Two are in college and two attend schools in Boulder Valley. I am a very proud Mama and love spending time traveling, hiking and going to dinner with my family. In my spare time I love to run and swim in a local masters program.
I teach because I love when students get involved and passionate about learning.
