Biography:

I've been teaching since 2004 (at Fireside since 2006), after I switched careers as a reporter and writer, most recently as a science writer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. I have a master's degree in aesthetic education and a PhD in curriculum and instruction; ecological education was the focus of my dissertation. I am National Board certified, and I teach arts integration (to teachers) through Think 360 Arts Education. Biography:

"It's your attitude and not your aptitude that determines your altitude." - Zig Zigler

Born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, my family and I transplanted here in 2006. I now live in Broomfield with my husband, two daughters, and two dogs. Before moving to Colorado, I taught 5th grade in Anaheim, California, for eleven years, and I have continued to teach 5th grade since starting at Fireside.

When I'm not working, I enjoy going to the gym, reading(especially historical fiction and biographies), sleeping, shopping, snuggling with my five and a half pound Shi-poo, and hanging out with my family.

My goal as an educator is to facilitate learning for my students that includes knowledge of the world around them, critical thinking and problem solving skills, and leadership to develop citizenship and responsibility. Lastly, I aspire to foster self-empowerment and a desire to be a life long learner.
