Running Club

    General Info:  

    Research has shown that exercise before school benefits students throughout the day....so,the Fireside Running Club meets in the gym before school.  After we have done a quick warm up and stretch, students run laps around the outside of our building and receive a popsicle stick for every lap they run.  4 laps around the school equal one mile, and at the end of running club, students turn in their sticks to keep track of how many miles they have run.  We have had some years where students run 30 -40 miles over the course of the year!  

    We may need to cancel a meeting due to inclement weather, so please make sure that when you sign your child up, you use an email that you check often.  I will send out an email first thing in the morning if the weather makes it too difficult for us to run.

    Our Running Club is not just for students, we would love for parents/guardians to join us running before school!  

    When/Where: 

    7:30am - 7:50am Mondays and Fridays starting in the gym

    Fall Session:  September 9st, 2019 - Nov. 22th, 2019

    Spring Session:  March 30th, 2019 - May 11th, 2020

    *Please do not drop your child off any earlier than 7:25 (there will be no adult supervision.)

    Parents will need to check their email on inclement weather days to find out if running club has been canceled.

    Who Can Join:  Students K-5 are welcome to join.  Depending on your child's needs, you may need to join him/her for the first few sessions.

    Help Needed:  We need parent volunteers!   First and foremost, come run with us!!  If running isn't your thing, we would love your help handing out popsicle sticks to students after each lap they have run.  At the end of each Running Club we will also need help tallying students' miles.

    Cost: There is no cost to join Running Club!  

    Attire: We will be running outside, so please have your child dress for the weather, and of course, wear tennis shoes!!  :)
