Parent & Volunteer Information
Parents play an important role in supporting our students and community. Our goal is for parents to be informed, engaged and participants in our student’s learning experiences. We are grateful for all the time and positive energy our parents and volunteers dedicate to our school. There are many types of opportunities at Fireside including, but not limited to, classroom assistance, special events and field trips.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND SCREENING
We ask that each individual interested in volunteering with BVSD complete the appropriate Raptor application; ENGLISH or SPANISH. Please note, there is a $24.99 background fee due at the time of submission. The Raptor screening will be valid for one calendar year.

All volunteers must complete a mandatory background screening prior to volunteering in the classroom, at events, or on field trips, which can be accessed here.
School Accountability Committee
The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is a statutory requirement for every school in Colorado. The purpose of this committee is to provide opportunities for parents, staff, and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school improvement goals and the school’s instructional programming. Attendance at all SAC meetings is required by elected seats: Chair, Secretary, the District Parent Council (DPC) and the District Accountability Council (DAC) Representatives, and a teacher representative. The committee meets six times over the course of the school year. All SAC agendas and notes are can be found here. If interested in joining the School Accountability Committee, please contact Mrs. Smetzer.
Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)
The Fireside Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) includes parents, teachers, and Mrs. Smetzer. We work together to provide a quality experience for all Fireside students, and help to make Fireside an excellent school for our community.
FET: Families and Educators Together
Families and Educators Together (FET) FET is a district supported group whose purpose is to support the school community's shared goals for the learning, success and well-being of every student by... 1) strengthening trust-based, reciprocal relationships with all families 2) supporting student learning and well-being through collaboratively-designed family engagement activities that build on the assets of both families and educators 3) centering the voices and cultivating the leadership of parents and family members whose identities and experiences are traditionally underrepresented. 4) learn from each other and gain insights that strengthen school-family partnerships. Our goal as a FET Team this year is to make cross-cultural connections, learn about diverse perspectives, and find ways to support and celebrate each other, as well as improve our school and Fireside community.
