Parent & Volunteer Information

Parents play an important role in supporting our students and community. Our goal is for parents to be informed, engaged and participants in our student’s learning experiences. We are grateful for all the time and positive energy our parents and volunteers dedicate to our school. There are many types of opportunities at Fireside including, but not limited to, classroom assistance, special events and field trips.

REQUIRED BACKGROUND SCREENING

To promote a safe, nurturing, and supportive educational environment, Boulder Valley School District’s volunteer policy requires BOTH a volunteer application AND background screening (either annual online or fingerprints) for all adults who would like to volunteer on a regular basis, ride the bus on field trips, supervise children on field trips. Please note: filling out the online volunteer application does not complete the screening. The online application and background screening are two different steps needed to volunteer.

Volunteer at Fireside

We welcome volunteers! All volunteer opportunities are posted and regularly updated on the HelpAtSchool.org website by our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Information about volunteering is provided at the beginning of the school year by out PTO and classroom teachers during our Back to School Night. All volunteers must complete a mandatory background screening prior to volunteering in the classroom, at events, or on field trips, which can be accessed here.

School Accountability Committee

The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is a statutory requirement for every school in Colorado. The purpose of this committee is to provide opportunities for parents, staff, and community members to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school improvement goals and the school’s instructional programming.  Attendance at all SAC meetings is required by elected seats: Chair, Secretary, the District Parent Council (DPC) and the District Accountability Council (DAC) Representatives, and a teacher representative. The committee meets six times over the course of the school year. All SAC agendas and notes are can be found here. If interested in joining the School Accountability Committee, please contact Mrs. Keppler.

Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO)

The Fireside Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) includes parents, teachers, and Mrs. Keppler. We work together to provide a quality experience for all Fireside students, and help to make Fireside an excellent school for our community.

Puentes

Puentes is a diverse group of latino parents from diverse nationalities, cultures, and traditions, that, together with teachers and community leaders, seek information to enrich our knowledge on diverse topics of interest that we can incorporate into our daily lives.   Within a safe, respectable, and healthy environment, the group helps to improve communication between parents and the school, as well as improve our relationship with our kids.

Ambassador Program

This program is led by our Community Liaison and consists of a group of volunteers dedicated to ensuring that new families, as well as our International and Bilingual families, feel welcomed and part of our Fireside community.
